The Delhi High Court cancelled the admission of 33 students named by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Combined Entrance Examination, after the CBI confirmed irregularities in the examination held for admission to the engineering courses in the Delhi College of Engineering and Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT).
There was, however, good news in store for other students, as the Court ruled that the admission of all other candidates would be completed as per schedule.
The Court, however, added that the admission of any other candidate whose involvement in the scam is established later will also be cancelled.
The petition had been filed by Karan Mendiratta, who ranked 1,459 in the examination, and had alleged that there had been irregularities in the examination.
He had demanded for an impartial inquiry into the allegations and cancellation of the examination if the alleged irregularities were proved.
The petition filed through advocate Rajneesh Kumar Gaind had alleged that 11 of the successful candidates, all ranked 56th, obtained same marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Similarly, three and five of the successful aspirants, all ranked 25th and 13 respectively, scored the same marks in the three subjects, the petition stated.
The Combined Entrance Examination was conducted in May for admission to engineering courses in the Delhi College of Engineering and the Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology.
