Despite being extremely optimistic and bullish about their future,young indians are pragmatic and strongly believe that changes in the social fabric and governance are critical towards the changing the prevalent world order, reveals a new survey that covered eight different Asian countries.
The first ever Young Asians Survey conducting by a leading global intelligence company-Synvocate-reveals that firm in India need to take cognisance of the emerging group of consumers that effectively balances their their traditional roots with a modern day outlook.
According to Amit Adarkar, director of Synvocate, India, the survey provides meaningful insights into the behaviour and phyche of the up and coming Indian. Today`s young Indian is sensible, sassy and sets priorities at an early age.
The young Indians are internet buffs who rely on it not only for product and service information ,but also for news and current affairs. To top it all, they want to use the internet even more in the times to come, he notes, adding that across the region, the young Indian also has the biggest say in the family expenditure.
Favorite Brands
Among career choices, information technology tops the list of young Indians.
When respondents were asked about the varitey of questions regarding their media usages and preffered medium for product and service information, 42 per cent of the 12 to 24 years olds in India named TV as the most helpful medium for the product and service information fowllowed by Internet(35 per cent) and newspaper (17 per cent).
Their favourite brands included McDonald`s, Pizza Hut and KFC in the fast food and Thums Up in soft drinks, IBM, Sony and Compaq in laptops/computers, Nokia, Sony Ericssion and LG in mobile phones Sony, Kodak and Canon in Digital cameras and Nike, Adidas and Reebok in sportswear.
Intrestingly the Survey says that young Indians weild the most power over family expenditure over the region, with more than half having a major say in all categories of products purchased including family vacations, home furniture and family car.
