The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) national President Kamlesh S Vikamsey has said that there would be huge demand for accounting professionals across the globe in the days to come.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that the accounting stream would get opportunities on par with IT in the next 5 to 10 years.
When asked about the recent developments in accounting sector, Kamlesh said that the institute had taken steps at the micro level to enable the members to gear themselves up to the changes and see the opening up of the accounting profession as an opportunity rather than a threat.
Hailing the skill sets of Indian CAs as second to none, Kamlesh said that the institute wishes to introduce digitalisation in near future.
We want to introduce e-learning in our education curriculum. As part of it, video-conferencing system will also be available to the students, Kamlesh explained.
He said that at the apex level the institute had been making efforts to convince the Government to create a framework that would enable the Indian Accounting Profession to gear up for the new challenges.
ICAI national Vice-President TN Manoharan and ICAI Visakhapatnam branch Chairman Gorti Subba Rao were present.
