Delhi University may have tried to lend a helping hand to students by including extra curricular activities (ECA) and sports in this year`s ICR forms, but with colleges likely to receive their individual admission data only by June 22 – much after some of the trials and auditions are over – students have been left a little confused.
Though the ICR form does give students the option of saying if they were interested in applying under the ECA or sports category, it neither gives the specifics of the area the student is interested in nor his abilities in the said department.
But then that is just one of the problems that students who have applied through the ICR form are likely to face. According to Delhi University officials, confusion is likely in colleges that have their trials before June 22 when ICR data will be handed over to colleges. This would include the lists and details of students who have applied to each and every course as well as under the ECA and sports categories.
We have been receiving a lot of enquiring from students about the ECA category. Most students have been a little confused about whether they should also apply with the college separately. It is advisable for students to apply separately to college for the category in case the trials and auditions are before June 22 as the colleges would not have the data,“ said Deputy Dean Students` Welfare Amit Bardhan.
The University feels that it will be up to individual colleges to decide whether they want to allow students to take the test without the ICR data. Yet another problem that students seem to be facing is their name appearing on the general list even if they have applied under the ECA category.
A number of students have asked us on this and we would like to clear that the names of students who apply under the ECA or any other category will be sent to colleges under both the general and the special category list,“ said Mr. Bardhan
