Rajasthan To Showcase IT Education Plan In Jordan
Rajasthan government will showcase its Rs.2.18 billion ($50 million) IT education plan in front of global IT majors at a meeting of the Jordan Education Initiative in Jordan from May 17-19.
Jordan Education Initiative is a public-private partnership model that improves education in a developing country through innovation, accelerating reform, capacity building and catalysing industry.
It brings together leaders from the IT and telecom industries with Jordanian authorities to create the project that will improve education in the kingdom.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had promised to extend full support to the initiative if it was introduced in Rajasthan.
With a view to associating the state with world level IT education, we propose to equip over 2,000 schools in the state with modern facilities, a senior official of the education department told IANS. Over Rs.2.18 billion will be spent on this work, he said.
The official said a formal proposal along with presentation of the education scenario in Rajasthan will be put before the meeting.
The proposals prepared for strengthening of education in the state will also be put before the world community through this important global platform, he said.
Rajasthan`s Education Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari and Principal Secretary (education) C.K. Mathew are expected to represent Rajasthan at the meeting.
The proposals prepared by Rajasthan include a project relating to extension of modern facilities of information technology in girls` schools. Under this, facilities such as computer labs, courses and training to teachers are proposed to be included in the schools.
Over 753 secondary and senior secondary schools of the state will benefit from the scheme.
Jordan has been announced as the pilot nation for the implementation of an ambitious project for the delivery of effective e-learning to its citizens.
Organisations like BlueArc Corporation, CISCO Systems, Dell, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems among others are expected to participate in the meeting
