» News > Education > NCERT is trying to make the subjects simpler
Making young minds aware of harsh social realities like caste and gender discrimination is not as difficult as it may appear. NCERT, in its National Curriculum Framework Review , has suggested a new approach to pedagogy- four simple questions on water (or anything close to a students life) that can break the ice on a subject like caste , otherwise considered too adult to be discussed with schoolchildren. For instance, teachers can broach the sensitive topic by asking who controls the village well. This should get students thinking about class and caste. NCERT in its curriculum framework, which would be the guide to school syllabi for next five years, has told teachers not to shy away form discussing different dimensions of social reality in classrooms
