B R Ambedkar University of Agra, which was conducting the Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) in Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday confirmed that substantial leakage of question papers had taken place and recommended cancellation of the examination. The examination was postponed on Friday.
A two-member university inquiry committee, set up to probe the incident, stated in its report that substantial leakage of question papers had taken place, Vice-Chancellor A S Kukla said. The committee said after comparing papers seized by the police and the original ones printed for the university, it was been found that a substantial amount of leakage had taken place.
The committee was of the view that the leakage could have happened either at the printers end or from government treasuries in 18 district headquarters of the state, where they were kept.
The inquiry committee had given a clean chit to the paper setters, saying they were from far off places and could not have leaked out the papers. It appears that the leakage had taken place from the printers end or during transportation or from the government treasuries.
