Southern States Fare Better In CBSE Class X Exams

The southern Indian states did better in the CBSE Class 10 examinations than the two other regions for which results were declared.

The Chennai region recorded a pass percentage of 90.74 while this was 87.70 per cent in Ajmer region and 82.21 per cent in Chandigarh region.

The results for the three regions of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were posted on its websites www.Cbse.Nic.In, www.Results.Nic.In and www.Cbseresults.Nic.In, but students in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and eastern India will have an anxious wait for two more days.

In the Chennai region, which includes Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Daman and Diu, 73,566 students took the test of which 31,872 were girls.

While the pass percentage for girls in this region was 90.86, it was 90.65 for boys.

In Ajmer region comprising Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Chhattisgarh, there were 56,519 candidates of which 22,851 were girls.

Girls did much better than boys in the region with a pass percentage of 89.05 against 86.9.

In Chandigarh region, which includes Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, 82,645 students including 34,614 girls took the test.

While girls had a pass percentage of 84.33 per cent, it was 80.68 for boys.

The results for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Uttaranchal, Jharkhand and the North-eastern states will be declared at 1800 IST on May 26, a CBSE spokesperson said.
