AICTE Permits 33 Colleges For Admission

Filed under:

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted permission to 33 institutions in various parts of the country to conduct technical educational courses and admit students in 2005/06.

This was in conformity with its endeavour to promote qualitative growth in technical education in the country without diluting standards, an official release today said.

The Council this year had received 767 applications from various Trusts to set up new educational institutions in disciplines of engineering and technology, pharmacy, architecture and hotel management. Of this, 243 proposals were found fit for issue of Letter of Intent (LOI).

In a major policy shift this year, the Council had made the LOI valid for three academic years so as to give reasonably adequate time to the institutions to put the entire physical infrastructure and human resource in place before commencing courses.

The institutes were advised to get inspections done only after being fully prepared and on complete fulfilment of the minimum norms and standards prescribed by the Council.

In the first phase, only 33 institutions were found to be conforming to the requirements and thus suitable for issue of LOI.
