The Government Dental College, Srinagar has finally got the recognition by the Dental Council of India after 20 years of its establishment.
According to notification F No: V.12018/2/2005-PMS dated May 10, 2005, issued by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the college has been granted recognition from November 26, 1990, anybody having been declared to have successfully qualified the BDS course from the college on or after the date will be deemed to have a degree recognized by the Dental Council of India.
Thus he or she will be eligible to higher studies in any university or institution recognized by the DCI or will be eligible to practice dentistry anywhere in India.
As the notification reached the college Thursday, reports said the faculty as well as the students heaved a sigh of relief. It was an occasion to celebrate for both the faculty as well as the students as the uncertainty that loomed over their heads for so long had come to an end.
