IBM has suggested the formation of an education collaboration network to look at new models for designing relevant curricula, training material, and providing access to teaching aids and new models for teaching students.
IBM Global Services India today presented two studies, titled
`Improving India`s Education System through IT` and `Improving India`s Healthcare System through IT`, to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
The objectives of undertaking this report were to identify areas where IT will significantly enhance productivity to create an education system based on the principles of helping teachers become effective and develop an information-based healthcare system, said an IBM release.
Shanker Annaswamy, Managing Director, IBM India, said: A progressive economy like ours needs its people to be educated and healthy. High-quality school education and healthcare are critical for achieving our national objectives and IT can be well leveraged to help us achieve that agenda.
The report talks about a secure, nationwide health data network that would form the backbone of a national health information infrastructure to allow information sharing.
In the process of preparing this report, we have worked hard to identify how we can contribute best. We are currently in the process of identifying partner organisations to draw up an implementation plan to execute some of the recommendations, Annaswamy said.
