Medical College From IMA’s Stable
The Indian Medical Association has decided to start medical colleges in various parts of the country with an aim to provide `quality` education and eradicate several `unethical systems` prevailing in the medical education, including collection of capitation fees.
The IMA would coordinate with Central and respective state governments for establishing the medical colleges, IMA national President Sudipto Roy said while inaugurating the 59th conference of the Tamil Nadu unit of the association on Saturday night.
The West Bengal and Mizoram governments have evinced interests in starting the colleges, he said.
The IMA wanted to function the colleges on no profit no loss basis.
On the issue of arresting doctors on charges of negligence under sections 304 and 305 of IPC, Roy said the association-wanted states to emulate West Bengal and Kerala Governments, which brought legislations for the protection of doctors.
