The Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Ramalinga Reddy, said on Thursday that the Government will recruit 10,000 teachers to fill the vacancies that will arise in the coming years.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Government Pre-University College here, Mr. Reddy said the appointments will begin from this year.
There are 42,000 government schools. Of them, more than 20,000 are aided and non-aided ones. Government schools have performed well in the recent SSLC examinations.
Their pass percentage is 58.02 per cent as against the State percentage of 60.02 per cent, Mr. Reddy said.
