Schools To Get New Facilities

More than BD4 million is being spent by the Education Ministry to construct seven new academic buildings at schools around the country.

They will include 68 classrooms and laboratories, accommodating 2,000 students, in addition to teachers` lounges and other facilities.

Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi said the seven buildings would be opened up at the beginning of the new academic year, which begins in September.

One building, at Dair Primary School for Boys, includes 10 classrooms and six offices, said ministry Assistant Under-Secretary for Planning and Educational Information Mohammed Al Jowder.

The Salmabad Primary School for Girls building includes 10 classrooms and laboratories, he said.

The Duraz Intermediate for Boys building consists of 12 classrooms, in addition to teachers` lounges.

At Jaw Primary School for Girls, the project consists of six classrooms and laboratories, he added.

Mr Al Jowder said that temporary cabins in three schools had been replaced with new buildings.

The buildings will consist of 10 classrooms, computer laboratories, administration offices and other required facilities, he said.
The schools are the Arabian Gulf Primary School for Girls, Salahaddin Al Ayoubi Primary School for Girls and Al Qayrawan Intermediate School for Girls.

Mr Al Jowder said new laboratories had been built at three schools.
The schools are Ruqaya Primary School for Girls, Gharnata Primary School for Girls and Oqaba bin Nafae Primary School for Boys, he said.

A total of 574 shades have been also installed at schools.
Mr Al Jowder said that work on the new talented students` care centre and examination centre at the ministry complex in Isa Town and the teachers resources centre in Muharraq would be completed by the end of next year.
