The first private university of India, Amity is all set to acquire another 25 acres of land in Gomtinagar Extension to expand its current operations of Lucknow campus.
This was announced by the founder-president of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF - the foundation of Amity Institutions), Ashok Chauhan, who was in the city as part of the UPDC team which met former US President Bill Clinton.
The group has earmarked the land in Gomtinagar Extension and if we get the requisite state government sanction in time, we hope to start running the new campus by the academic session of 2006, Chauhan claimed.
He described the visit of Clinton to the city of Nawabs en route to China as highly successful in upgrading the image of the state in international community.
The Clinton Foundation is a very well-respected and strong union of eminent international personalities. Talking about the much publicised Rae Bareli development plan-2021` of the group, he defended the decision by stating that the choice of the district is for purely apolitical reasons. He said that the Rae Bareli Development Authority had come out with a published tender for such a programme and the group applied for the same.
We had the best plan for reviving sick units, enhancing micro and agri-based finance, setting up army and police recruitment centres, providing vocational courses to those who are having lower level of education and working towards women empowerment and setting up old age homes and orphanages. The Kanpur plan is drafted and this year we may send a batch of students to practice their entrepreneurial zeal in Kanpur, when they are mentally prepared, he explained
