Dan Zeng, the deputy secretary of Southwest Chinas Yunnan province, was in Delhi this weekend scouting tie-ups with private colleges. India has rich experience in private education while we have just opened up. But we have a huge market for private institutes. We are hoping to get some expertise from India, he said.
A week in India and two days in Delhi, Dan did make some breakthrough. I met the vice-chancellor of Indraprastha University for a joint venture in the area of software education. He has agreed to come to Yunnan in December to see if we can open a software school together.Mnaipal University and Indian Institute of Trade and Finance have already agreed to have an exchange programme with our varsity, he said.
Delhi played a gracious host,he said. And returning the favour, he announced a scholarship programme for Indians. Yunnan University will now provide freeship to Indians interested in learning Mandarin. We will design six months and full year courses. Details will be worked out soon, he said
