A first class student only can dream about the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) from next year. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has taken the necessary steps to modify the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The students from Science stream of Intermediate will no more be irresponsible in studies if they aspire a seat in IIT. The minimum eligibility for appearing a screening test of IIT will need a 6o percent of marks in intermediate standard. Of course there has been a relaxation of 5 percent to all the SC & ST. The question pattern and the number of time to appear an IIT entrance have been amended by the HRD. One aspirant can avail two chances to qualify the IIT test. The consecutive two years from their second year of Intermediate course will counted as the limitation for appearing IIT. The question pattern comprises short write-ups on various topics followed by objective questions based on the write-up. This would test the comprehension as well as the analytical ability of the students, a ministry statement said.
These criteria will encourage the students to study in their intermediate period, said a HRD official. Most of the educationist and educational institutions favor this policy and reformation made by the HRD. This will lower the burden of aspirants as well as the burden of guardians`.
