IIMs demand to scrap 24X7 water schemeProfessors and former students of Indian Institutes of Management and Indian Institutes of technology have demanded the Delhi government to scrap the 24X7 water project and withdraw its loan request for it from the world bank, casting doubts on the feasibility of the project. Questioning the hush-hush manner in which the government is going about the project, experts from the top management institute of the country pointed out several glitches in the contract. Prof. Jagdeep Chokkar of IIM, Ahmedabad said, The stiff condition attached to this loan gives the bank the last in all matters. The amount of loan being advanced by the bank is just Rs.120 crore while the government invests close to 1,000 crore every year in DJB. If the government really needs this amount it can easily raise it from the domestic capital market. And that would be free of any conditions.
