The AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) has withdrawn recognition to Amity Business School, Noida from the current academic year, citing violation of norms and serious deficiencies from the current academic year. The decision is likely to affect 300 students at Amity.
K.Madhav Murthy, adviser, the AICTE said that the decision was taken following reports of apex committee inspections in July and August. The committee had reported a series of violations of norms and standards.
It was found that the teachers meant for the two AICTE approved courses were teaching other courses, thereby disturbing the standard of education. The councils statement further said that the institute also lacked the requisite built-up area as per AICTE norms.
The recognition was withdrawn on Saturday and the Management of Amity was informed on Monday.
One among the various violations, is the exorbitant fee being charged (more than the prescribed norms) and the non-transparency in admissions.
The founder chairman of Amity, Ashok.A.Chauhan, however refuted the charges and assured the students that the fees deposited would be returned if the matter was not sorted out with the AICTE. Murthy meanwhile, said, the AICTE had asked UP government to transfer the students to institutes in neighbouring areas.
