Adalats to Dispose Degree Certificates

The Orissa Higher Education Department has decided to organise Certificate adalats in all the district headquarters on February 28 next year for distribution of pre-university and degree certificates to pass- out students who have not collected their certificates for decades.

Higher Education Minister Samir Dey told that the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and the nine universities have been directed to send all pass certificates including those uncollected ones to colleges by December 31. The colleges have been instructed to send those certificates that have remained uncollected to an identified nodal college of their district where the proposed Adalat will be organised on February 28, 2006. A maximum 10 years time will be given to pass-out students to collect their certificates failing which the uncollected certificates will be destroyed, the Minister said.

Those who have failed to collect their certificates from colleges can have it from the university within next five years by paying an additional Rs 100 besides the normal charge and after five years the additional charge will be Rs 500 per certificate. Henceforth, production of Plus Two certificate (original) has been made mandatory for Plus Three second year students during readmission, he said
