Committee for Searching of New Teaching Talent in JNU

Filed under:

In the age of globalization & liberalization to spot and nurture a perfect talent is a best investment for every institution. By realizing this basic, Indias top educational institution JNU has set up a committee to look into new methods of recruitment for teaching.
The committee will suggest a different selection method for recruitment of promising teaching talent for the university. But the selection procedure will not violate the official UGC norms.

Currently the university follows the conventional methods of selection, where the university administration advertises the post in Media. Then the short-listed candidates are called and judged by a selection panel. Now the administration feels to change the original format and formulate a better selection procedure. In this regard the university officials feel a new selection process will provide much scope for improvement and should ideally seek to tap the best teaching talent from across the country, and not necessarily those who happen to appear before the interview board. Prof. B. B. Bhattacharya, Vice-Chancellor of JNU says the question now is whether this conventional method is the right way to judge the ability and potential of a teacher. So we think to deviate from the current process to arrive at a better selection procedure.
