» News > Education > Private Institutes can not Use the Word Indian & National
A brand name has a monogamous relationship with its consumers. If someone misuses it by slightly changing the word, then it definitely harm a power brand.
It is exactly happen with many branded institutes in India such as IITs, IIMs and so on.
To regulate this unfair practice the All India Council for Technical Education is in the process of issuing notices to private institutes. AICTE said these private institutes were consciously trying to cash the brand value of established government institutes by using words like Indian & National. Senior officials of the AICTE said it is not permissible. He said we have made it compulsory to these institutes to changing their names. The AICTE has said only government run institutions & council recognised institutes can used these words. Through this measure the council hopes to aware the students that these institutes are not recognised by AICTE. This will help the students to understand the credentials of these institutes
