Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology recently organised their fourth annual three-day art exhibition - Srijan. The exhibition was inaugurated by Lokesh Chandra, director, International Academy of Indian Culture, Ashok K Chauhan, founder president, Amity Universe, and Divya Chauhan, chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts. Chandra lauded the efforts of the students, saying: We need to understand what Srijan means and what it implies; it is an activity personal in nature and requires a great deal of thinking.
University of CIE has accepted Amity International School, Noida, as a Cambridge International Centre
International Centre
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has accepted Amity International School, Noida, as a Cambridge International Centre. The school may now offer CIEs world renowned Cambridge IGCSE, A and AS level qualifications. The announcement was made at a CIE orientation meeting for parents, held at the school, where teachers and representatives from CIE gave an overview of the Cambridge International Curriculum. CIE offers high levels of support to its teachers through professional development courses and endorsed textbooks. Apart from offering school curriculum,Cambridge also offers development courses for teachers and trainers, The Cambridge International Certificate and Diploma for teachers and trainers are much sought after qualifications in India and other parts of the world.

Amity Centre for Science Olympiads and Amity Institute for Competitive Examinations in collaboration with Mumbais Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education conducted a day and night Science and Mathematics Olympiads Workshop from October 14-21 in Noida. Fifty students of Classes IX to XII from schools across NCR attended the workshop. Eminent faculty from all over India including IISc Bangalore, ISI Delhi, Fergusson College, Delhi College of Engineering, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, Miranda House, Gargi College and Khalsa College, conducted different sessions to ignite a passion for learning science in students.

Amity University has launched a Certificate Course in Child Protection and Juvenile Justice. Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences and the Prayas Institute of Juvenile Justice have together set up the Amity Child Protection Centre to offer practical and theoretical training in child protection for government and nongovernment officers. The centre has also started a three-month certificate course on Child Protection and Juvenile Justice.

National Seminar
Amity Institute of Bio-organic Research and Studies and Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation, in collaboration with the Planning Commission, recently conducted a one-day national seminar on technology up gradation in biofertiliser and biopesticide production1.The seminar addressed important issues related to the technological development of bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides through interactions between eminent scientists, research workers, representatives from reputed institutes and policy makers. The discussions focused on formulating an appropriate national policy to deal with various technical constraints. V Sadamate, advisor (agriculture), Planning Commission, also stated that by using biofertilisers, yields increase by 11 to 16.7%.
Mental health conference at Amity
Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences (AIBHAS), at Amity University, in collaboration with UNICEF organised the third National Mental Health Conference on The Emerging Trends in Mental Health of Children and Adolescents. The Conference was aimed at training teachers as well as students on ways to deal with mental distress, fundamentals about mental health, its elements and manifestation.

Science and Maths exhibition at Amity International School
The second annual Science and Maths exhibition titled EUREKA was held in Amity International School from July 20-21, 2007. Students from Class I to Class IX got an opportunity to display their skills and creativity. Presentations were made on real life Maths, Algebric Bx: pressions, Algebraic identities, Bhaskars Proof of Pythagoras Theorem, Exponents and science topics such as colours, food, solar system, science in the service of mankind, water, lights, plants and human physiology. Dr. Anuj Sinha, Advisor, Union Department of Science and Technology, and Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, inaugurated the exhibition. The inauguration was followed by prize distribution ceremony for Classes II and III students for the academic session 2006-2007.
Delhi High Court has directed the UGC for listing Amity University, UP in the list of universities on its website

The Delhi High Court has directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) for listing Amity University, Uttar Pradesh in the list of universities on its website. Amity had submitted in the High Court that even though it was recognised as per section 2(f) of the UGC Act with the power to award degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act, the non-inclusion of its name in the UGC List (which is a non-statutory list, i.e. not required under law) was creating problems. Allowing the petition filed by Amity University, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed observed, It was open to the UGC not to maintain a list of Universities falling under section 2(f) of the UGC Act but having exercised the option of maintaining such a list, it is not open to UGC to pick and choose and arbitrarily and unreasonably deny inclusion of the petitioners name in the said list even though it falls within the definition of the word university given in section 2(f) of the UGC Act.
Amity and Insurance Institute of India forge alliance for education in Insurance
Amity School of insurance & Actuarial Science (ASIAS) and the Insurance Institute of India have together come to an arrangement by which the students who successfully pursue the MBA (Insurance) and PG Diploma in Insurance Management (PGDIM) will automatically qualify for Associate level accreditation of the Insurance Institute of India subject to such student passing one paper and out of the modules specified for Fellowship. Henceforth, a student pursuing MBA (Insurance) / PGDIM from Amity School of Insurance & Actuarial Science (ASIAS) will have the twin advantage of qualifying the respective program and achieving professional accreditation at the same time. The pro-active approach of the Insurance Institute of India will bring about greater professionalism by increasingly encouraging Associates to pursue to Fellowship programme. The Chartered Insurance Institute, London has already tied up with ASIAS in the similar way for exemptions of certain papers.
Amity launches space centre
The Amity Space Set team comprising 12 students of Amity International School, Saket, has been declared as one of the Finalists for the International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) to be held at NASAs Johnson Space Centre located at Houston, Texas, USA, in July 2007. To promote scientific fervour and zeal amongst students, the Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation (School Wing) has launched the Amity Aeronautics and Space Centre (AASC). It was inaugurated by Professor Yashpal, a veteran in Aerospace, Science and Technology.

Amity University signed an agreement with Kangwon University, Korea, for studies, research and exchange programmes. It will soon start a course in Korean language. Under the tie-up, students have an option to come to Amity for research and study programmes.

Delegation from USA and Korea visits Amity Business School, Noida
A delegation of faculty and students from Hoseo Graduate School of Global Education, Seoul, Korea and from Georgia State University, USA visited Amity Business School, Noida. The visit was aimed to learn about Indian business methods, cultures and practices especially in small and medium sized firms managed by entrepreneurs as well how to meet young entrepreneurs.
