Introduction
Uttar Pradesh Combined Medical Entrance Test is an examination conducted for admission to MBBS in Unaided Medical Colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Combined Medical Entrance Test is conducted by the Unaided Medical Colleges Welfare Association of Uttar Pradesh.

Important dates of UPCMET

1. Mid of Feb to mid April 2009 – sale of application forms.
2. End of May or first week of June 2009 – date of entrance examination.
3. Mid June 2009 – declaration of result

Eligibility criteria for UPCMET

1. The age of the candidate must be from 17 years to 25 years.
2. The candidate should also be a citizen of India.
3. The candidate must also have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the class 12th examination with PCB and English as main subjects.
4. The candidates appearing for class 12th examination this year are also eligible to sit for examination provided that they will have to submit the class 12th certificate at the time of counseling if selected.

Experts urge customer focus at IIM meet

Identification of the targeted customer base, focus on capability rather than resource-based business and an incisive understanding of the market are some of the key factors which the would be entrepreneurs need to value before kicking off a business venture, according to experts who deliberated on Entrepreneurship Summit, held here at the Indian Institute of Management.

Young entrepreneurs need to focus on their potential customer base while developing a business idea. They also got to think innovatively about the emerging markets where the established players are not well entrenched, felt Laura Parkin, executive director of the Bangalore-based National Entrepreneurship Network, a network of academic instituitions for fostering entrepreneurship.

The success of a business idea hinges on the pool of customers targeted and the market opportunity being explored, echoed Kanwaljit Singh, managing director of Helion Ventures, a venture capitalist firm.

The success of a start-up firm also depends on the ability of the whole of team of entrepreneurs to bounce back after failures and scale up the business, he added.

Ajit Balakrishnan, chief executive officer of rediff.com said, The entrepreneurs need to build capability-based business and and refrain from the resource-based business.

JK group of companies is setting up a Rs.45-crore business school in Gurgaon. The management institutions will initially conduct MBA/PGDBM programmes and later adds specialised courses such as in Marketing, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and International Business. The renowned Italian University LUISS Guido Carli in Rome is currently looking for five Indian students to join its Master of Science course in general management. It is a two-year course with three specialisations commencing October 2007. A Bachelor degree and fluency in English are minimum requirements to join the programme. After successful inscription, the candidate will have to either provide the result, minimum 550/900, of a completed GMAT test or to participate in the selection test specially organised by the university in Mumbai. AIMA-MAT All India Management Association Management Aptitude Test

All India Management Association (AIMA) Management Aptitude Test (MAT) or better known only as MAT is a comprehensive exam conducted for the students seeking admission to the post graduate management courses. MHRD (ministry of Human Resource Development) and GOI (government of India) have approved MAT for offering MBA, PGDM and many other PG courses such as MCA etc.

Important dates of AIMA-MAT
12-11-08 – last date for the availability of forms
17-11-08 – last date for the forms to be received by AIMA, New Delhi
07-12-08 – date of MAT examination 2008 (Sunday)

Eligibility criteria of AIMA-MAT

The minimum requirement for appearing in MAT is that the candidate should be graduate from a recognized university. Only the final year degree course students can apply for the examination despite being under graduate.

How to apply for MAT

If you want to get MAT application form by post you need to send a DD of Rs.790/- to AIMA-CMS, drawn in favor of AIMA-CMS payable at New Delhi. The DD should also accompany two slips with your address on them.

You can also collect the forms from AIMA counter in Delhi paying 750/- cash.
You can also get it from selected branches of bank of Baroda or study centers of AIMA.

Marking scheme:

For every correct attempt you will be awarded 1 mark and there is nothing specified for negative marking.

IIM-Lucknow has announced a Management Development Programme (MDP) on corporate environmental management and carbon markets.

The three-day training programme (from July 9-11, 2007) is designed for middle and senior-level managers/ professionals in the corporate and noncorporate sectors who are connected in any way with effective environmental management.

The programme fee is Rs 20,250 per participant (residential) for Indians while the fee for international participants is $ 510. The fee includes the cost of the programme material, tuition, boarding and lodging and use of the institutes facilities.
