Introduction
Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination is conducted each year for admission to MDS and MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in various colleges of UP. The candidates clearing the entrance examination are eligible for admission to the following Medical Colleges of Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Meerut and in Medical/ Dental faculty of CSM Medical University, Lucknow.
Important dates of UPPGMEE
1. Nov 2008 – availability of application forms will start.
2. Nov 2008 – last date for the availability of application forms.
3. Nov 2008 – last date for the submission of completed application forms.
4. Jan 2009 – dispatch of admit cards.
5. Jan 2009 – date of examination.
Eligibility criteria of UPPGMEE
1. The candidates who have done MBBS /BDS courses from the state of UP can apply for the examination.
2. The candidates who want to do degree course in the same field as they are currently doing diploma can also apply for the examination.
3. The appearing candidate must also have undergone the compulsory rotatory training.

About Examination:
1. The examination will consist of 2 papers and the timings of paper 1 will be from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm and the timings of paper 2 will be from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

New Courses
Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) has issued admission notices for its MPhil courses, University Research Scholarships (URS) and PG diploma in guidance counselling, for 2007-08. Application forms and course details can be obtained from the institute or downloaded from the website. The last date for submission is August 13,2007.

Admission Notice 2007
Applications are invited for admission to the following courses of study in the University Teaching epartments and MDU PG Regional Centre, Rewari:-
1. MA in Public Administration, English, Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, Sanskrit, Geography, Mass Communication, Psychology.
2. M.Sc. In Bio-Chemistry, Genetics, Botany, Environmental Science, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mathematics with Computer Science.
3. M.Com, LL.M. Master of Physical Education and Bachelor of Physical Education.
4. M. Ed, in the Department of Education and in affiliated Colleges,
5. Courses where entrance test is not required: M.Sc. in Statistics, MA in Hindi, Music, Defence Studies, Fine Arts, Education PG Diploma in Translation (Hindi-English) and Certificate course in Urdu.
Note: Courses marked are also available at MDU PG Regional Centre, Rewari.
Important Informations
(I) Entrance Test for the courses at Sr. No. 1 to 4 (except M.Ed.) will be held from 4.7.07 to 7.7.2007. Date and time of the test for the each course is mentioned in the schedule given in the Handbook of information. Admission to the courses at Sr. No. 5 will be made on the basis of Academic merit as defined in Chapter-6 of Handbook of Information For M.Ed. Course, date and time of the test shall be notified separately.
(II) 10% seats over and above the sanctioned intake are available for NRI/ NRI- sponsored/industry sponsored candidates. The admissions under this category shall be made strictly on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination. Also seats are available for outstanding sports persons, participants of cultural activities and Kashmiri Migrants.
(III) Handbook of Information containing eligibility conditions, intake admission criteria and application form will be available on sale counter from 8.6.2007 on payment of Rs. 400/- (Rs. 100/- in case of SC/BC candidates of Haryana only) and by post from the Incharge (Publication), Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak on or before 18.6.2007 by sending a crossed bank draft of Rs. 450/- (Rs. 150/- in case of SC/BC candidates of Haryana only) drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak payable at State Bank of India, MDU Branch, Rohtak. (IV) The Handbook of Information will also be available on cash payment at the following places:-
(i) MDU PG Regional Centre, Rewari.
(ii) Institute of Law & Mgt. Studies, Sector-40, Gurgaon.
(V) The application form complete in all respect must reach the Head of the Department concerned by 27.6.2007 (upto 5 PM) without late fee and with late fee of Rs. 500/- by 29.6.2007 (upto 5 PM). The applications received late shall be rejected.

Maharshi Dayanand University Held Convocation
Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) held its 13th Convocation recently in the Capital. C Rangarajan, chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, was the chief guest on the occasion. Khuswant Singh, famous writer and journalist, A R Kidwai, chancellor, MDU and R S Dhankar, vice chancellor, MDU were among the other eminent speakers.
Phool Chand Mullana, education minister of Haryana presented gold medals and certificates to 93 meritorious students. Speaking on the occasion Rangarajan said: The new economic policy of India has not diminished the role of state, but re-defined it. More market does not mean less government but only different government. However there is a growing need to focus on accelerating the growth rate of agriculture, ensuring massive infrastructure availability, investment in social infrastructure, improving the functioning of public sector enterprises, i.e. public sector reforms, fiscal consolidation for sustained growth and issues of governance.
