Ronnie was one of the most enthusiastic students weve had in the band, Sapulpa Band Director Alex Claussen recalls of Lewis.

He just loved being around music and other kids, and he was always willing to help out the staff and fellow students in any way he could.

The scholarships are available for German students

German scholarships for students

THE German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has announced scholarships for working professionals to pursue postgraduate subjects at universities in Germany. The scholarships are available in 42 different courses in the areas of economic sciences, business administration, political economics, development co-operation, engineering and related sciences, mathematics, regional planning, environmental sciences, agricultural and forest sciences, public health, veterinary medicine, education and sociology.

Commenting on the nature of the scholarships, Ulrich Podewils, director, DAAD, Delhi, said: These scholarships are for postgraduate courses that have special relevance to developing countries.

DAAD is looking for candidates with at least two years of related professional experience in order to qualify for a scholarship. Ideally, they should be engaged in planning and execution of directives and projects with emphasis on development policy having a bearing on the technological, economic or social areas, informed Podewils.

Students can pursue these courses both in English and German languages. A basic knowledge of German language will be required. Therefore, the government is offering scholarships to learn the German language. Selected candidates for courses in English will receive a scholarship for a two-month German language course to be taken prior to the commencement of their course. The participants in postgraduate courses in German will be awarded a six-month scholarship for an intensive German language course to be taken before their course begins, Podewils said.

The candidates, upto 36 years of age, will be awarded full or partial scholarships depending upon the course. But the courses are also open to eligible candidates, with personal financial resources, those who are funded by their government, or who are recipients of financial support from international sponsoring organisations, he added.

Ocala boys got bravado of a broadcaster, gets scholarship

Kyle Rowley was just trying to pass the time when he used his mothers hand-held tape recorder as he sat in the backseat of their car headed to Ocala.

He announced several minutes of a football game, including commercials he saw on television a few nights before. The episode put a smile on his mothers face as she drove and gave the 11-year-old Rowley something to do.

But those minutes playing on the tape recorder turned out to be the most profitable in his life, earning the boy a $10,000 scholarship in broadcasting.
