MASS COMM ADMISSION
NRAl School of Mass communication, associate study centre of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, is offering a three-year Bachelors in Mass Communication, two year Masters in Mass Communication and a course in BBA. Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the institute on payment of Rs 200 in person, by sending bank DD/paying order/cash in favour of NRAl payable at New Delhi.
UEI Global School of Service Management, Berggruen Education Pvt Ltd, has tied up with Delhi University and will flag a specially designed programme on Hospitality Persona Lifestyle Programme through the School of Open Learning. The programmes duration is three months with 90-minute sessions thrice a week. To ensure and facilitate maximum one-to-one interaction between faculty and students, the batch strength would be restricted to a maximum of 30 students.
UEI-Global School will organise its All India Common Entrance Examination (CEE) on May 18 .for the three-year degree programme in hospitality management. Its affiliations include Bharathiar University, The Hotelschool, The Hague, Birmingham Universityand City College of Norwich. The last date for submission of applications is May 12.
Christmas celebration at Mother’s Pride
Mother’s Pride, Delhi’s chain of pre-schools, celebrated Christmas with great fervour in all the 14 branches. The centres were decorated with bells, balloons, festoons and also featured Santa Claus with his sledge and gifts. Magic show, tattoo making and Victorian ride were special highlights of the celebration.
The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is organising by Ziskakan, a French Indian Diaspora musical band, across the Capital. A fifth generation descendant of Indian migrants to the French reunion Islands established Ziskakan. The schedule for the concerts is as follows: August 13, 6:30 pm onward at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hauz Khas; August 14, 10 am onward at the Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, and 2:30 pm onward at Miranda House, Delhi University.
Junior League of Rockford Outstanding Volunteer Scholarship
Each year Junior League of Rockford awards a scholarship to honor a high school student who has proven a sincere commitment to volunteerism in Winnebago County. The scholarship amount for the May 2007 winner will be $1500.

Three-year novel project to train tribal students from the state in Information Technology (IT)
Madhya Pradesh has decided to launch a three-year novel project to train tribal students from the state in Information Technology (IT). The minister for tribal welfare, Madhya Pradesh and the National Institute of Information Technology (NUT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard.
Under this project, students of class VI to VIII at Eklavya Model Residential School, Barwani will be provided computer training. The infrastructure including computers, trainers, furniture, stationery and generator will be provided by NUT.
The Indian School recently celebrated its ‘Environment Week’. The programmes for the week begun with the inauguration by Sonai Mansingh and her subsequent address on ‘Environment: A new perspective’. This was followed by a short play and recitations of student compositions on the need for sustainable and eco-friendly development. Primary school children participated in face drawing, painting, poster making and other campaigns, that addressed a variety of themes on saving the earth’s environment from detrimental effects.

Summer Fields School, Kailash Colony held the inter-school festivaI Indradhanush-2006 from Dec 18 to 20. About 500 students from 18 schools participated in it. Sixteen activities including English and Hindi debates, poetry recitation, extempore, ad act, music, art, craft and sculpture were organized. Anil Shukla, DCP south and Arshiya Sethi gave away the prizes. Lai Kishan Maharaj, kathak dancer gave away the trophies.Thelndradhanush trophy was awarded to DPS, Ghaziabad. School principal Rachna Pant congratulated the participants and the winners.
Akshay Patra school meal programme in Gujarat
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi launched a school meal programme in the state. The inauguration was held at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar. The Government of Gujarat and the Akshay Patra foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to feed children in some parts of Gujarat. The foundation plans to feed one million school children everyday by the end of 2010.

Designer Leena Singh of the Ashima-Leena pair and Sunil Sethi, CEO, Alliance Merchandising Company, were Chief Guests at the eighth annual graduation fashion show by students of Wigan Fashion School in New Delhi. Also present on the occasion, was Francis Fathome, a renowned educationist. The event featured 14 of Delhi supermodels, among others. It launched 23 new faces in the Indian fashion industry.

Art show and scholarship program at Atlantic City airport
The Atlantic City International Airport will help honor the memory of a young artist whose life was cut short by hosting a student art show and scholarship program in the airport ArtPort gallery for the entire month of April.
Scholarships will be awarded during a public open house at the gallery from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
One high school and one college artist each will receive a cash prize from the JAN-AI Scholarship Fund, which was created to honor the life and tragic death of young writer, poet and photographer, Jennifer Cakert, who grew up in Ventnor.

Katha workshop for teachers
Katha organised an in-service teacher training programme Reading Teachers at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Delhi for teachers teaching at Katha schools all over the country The 160-hour workshop is conducted every year. The learnings from this will be passed on to Kathas 11 community based school, 20 pavement schools served by the schools on wheel and 22 centres of learning operated in distant and new slums. According to Anand Singh Rana, who teaches IT education at Kathashala for the last seven years, The communication module helped me gain confidence. I also developed a reading habit and learnt what factors to keep in mind while reading. Also, how reading can help us grow as a person.
Scholarship is music to flautist Aimees ears
Preston youngster Aimee Bilsborrow has a hat-trick of reasons to blow her own trumpet.
For the talented musician has become the first pupil from her school to receive a music scholarship from a top public school and the only scholar to get the award this year.
The 10-year-old, who attends St Pius X Preparatory School in Fulwood, has been awarded a music scholarship by Stonyhurst College.

The family of Chester Smith Sr. has announce3d that applications for a scholarship to be given to a 2007 Yerington High School graduating senior in the name of Chester Smith Sr. are now being accepted.
Applications were available as of April 3, 2007 at the YHS Counselors office and at the Mason Valley News office at 207 W. Goldfield Ave. in Yerington.
The scholarship was created in memory of their father who lived most of his life in Yerington, and saw all of his 10 children attending Yerington schools.

Stephanie Garcia was undecided about where she was going to study mathematics in the fall until Friday night, when the 18-year-old was awarded a $24,000 scholarship.
The Pasco High School senior was the biggest winner of the night with the 2007 Dan Frost Scholarship. The announcement caught her by surprise and brought tears to her eyes before a crowd of more than 2,700 at TRAC in Pasco.
Despite a planned visit today to another campus, Garcia says Western Washington University in Bellingham has been her college of choice and now can become a reality thanks to the Hispanic Academic Achievers Program.

Tamana Chona has been awarded the Kalpana Chawla Excellence Awards 2007 for Women. She received the award last week from Kalpanas father Banarasi Lai Chawla at a function in the city, organised by the Old Boys Association of the Panjab Engineering College, Chandigarh on the 4th death anniversary of the countrys lady astronaut.
Chona was detected with cerebral palsy at birth leading to spasticity. In spite of her mental and physical challenges, she has earned many accolades, including being recognised as an ambassador for peace by the Universal Peace Foundation. She is currently working as a nursery school teacher.
