Planning and Architecture Common Entrance Test (PACET) is an examination conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) for admission to 4, 5 and 6 years courses in planning and architecture.
Eligibility criteria of JNTU PACET
1. The candidate should have Indian nationality.
2. The minimum age of the candidate is 16 years.

SWINBURNE University of Technology launches its new vision
Swinburne launches its new vision
SWINBURNE University of Technology (SUT), Melbourne, Australia, which recently turned 100, started its new innings celebrating its achievements as well as launching its vision for 2015 and beyond.
The university would be hosting a number of celebrations throughout the year in Australia and overseas. While its India-specific celebrations were held in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chennai recently to promote its global aspirations.
Stephen Connelly, pro-vice-chancellor, international and development, SUT, while speaking about the road ahead for the university said: Our new vision is to position Swinburne among the top 10 institutions in Australia, particularly in terms of research. If we can achieve that we would definitely be among the top 500 universities of the world.
The university at present has 22,600 students across its six campuses in Melbou rne and one in Sarawak, Malaysia. A number of Swinburne programmes are being delivered offshore like China, Hong Kong, Israel and Vietnam. On its attempt at global positioning, We have campuses in Australia, Malaysia and are offering programmes in Vietnam, China and Singapore, among others. Part of our plan is to extend our research initiatives throughout Asia, added Connelly.
A technology-foe ussed university, 90% of the enrolled students are in business, science, engineering and technology programmes that are fundamental to Australias growing manufacturing sector. On a strategic alliance of Swinburne with India, the pro-vice-chan-cellor said the university is looking to extend its institutional partnerships in the field ofcollaborative research. So we have a new pro-vice-chancellor of research who was previously working in India. We have identified seven areas where we would like to collaborate with Indian institutions, like photonics, astrophysics, social science, brain science, industrial and engineering research, said Connelly.
Among other major plans is to invest 250 million Australian dollars in infrastructure development in the next five years, of which 100 million Australian dollars would be towards Advance Component Building, a state-of-the-art facility for engineering and research.

Darlie O Koshy, director, National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has been selected to receive the IIT Delhi Alumni Award for Outstanding Contribution to National Development for 2007-2008, The award will be conferred on April 26 at the Seminar Hall, Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 to honour nominated and selected IIT-Delhi alumni. The IIT Delhi Alumni Association at its Annual General Meeting confers the award each year on one or more alumni. It consists of a plaque and a citation.
Purdue officials on India visit
Two senior Purdue University officials are on a two week India visit to meet government, industry and university officials to explore research agreements in analytical instrumentation, climate change, energy, health care and pharmacy Purdue researcher R. Graham Cooks and Discovery Park administrator Pankaj Sharma will also discuss student internship and faculty exchange programmes. They had meetings scheduled with several research facilities, including the India’s Department of Science and Technology, IIT, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Inter-University Accelerator Centre, Jawa-harlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research.

King Abdullah bin Abdulaz-iz Al Saud hosted more than 1,500 dignitaries from around the world to officially break ground for a new world-class, graduate-level science and technology university in Saudi Arabia. King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), being built on the shores of the Red Sea - is expected to open in September 2009. It is billed to become a global centre of scientific centre and human advancement. The under-constmc-tion institution has 570 Indian applications in progress, says a press release. In the one year since the university has been under development, it has formally partnered with some of the worlds leading training and research institutions, including Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in USA, Institut Francais duPetrole in France, the National University of Singapore and the American University in Cairo.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) and Bharti Airtel Limited, a telecommunications services provider recently announced that they wilL establish the Bharti-IIT Delhi Telecom Centre of Excellence, which will be established at the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management, IIT Delhi. An expression of interest in this regard was signed between Bharti Airtel and MT-Delhi recently. The Bharti-IIT Delhi Telecom Centre of Excellence is being set up as a part of an initiative by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. The objective of the centre is to promote innovation in the telecom sector and capacity building through knowledge towards achieving Telecom Vision 2010 of the government.

The discussions focused on formulating an appropriate national policy to deal with various technical constraints. V Sadamate, advisor (agriculture), Planning Commission, also stated that by using biofertilisers, yields increase by 11 to 16.7%.

His innovation comprises pioneering work in anti-malaria treatment through plant genotype development. Commemorating the spirit of its illustrious alumna Dr. Nina Saxena, the award is an attempt to encourage and promote technical innovation with a social development focus. The award had received 24 nominations from across countries. A 12-member jury of experts adjudged the nominations on the basis of innovativeness, applicability, and most importantly the potential of the application for social development with specific reference to backward areas in India.
